A Journey Through Flores and Komodo

A journey through Flores and Komodo is more than just a holiday. It is an adventure that takes you to some of the most beautiful places on earth. From ancient dragons to traditional villages, from volcanic lakes to hidden beaches, every day brings a new experience.

Your journey usually begins in Labuan Bajo. This small fishing town is now the main gateway to Komodo National Park. From here, you can take a boat and explore the islands. The first stop is often Pulau Kelor, where you can trek up a hill and enjoy a beautiful view of the bay. It is a perfect way to start your adventure.

Next, you visit Komodo and Rinca islands. These are the only places in the world where Komodo dragons live in the wild. You will walk with a ranger through the savanna and see these giant lizards up close. It is a thrilling experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. Along the way, you may also see deer, wild pigs, and many birds.

The boat trip also takes you to Padar Island. The trek to the top is short but rewarding. You will see the famous three bays with pink, white, and black sand beaches. It is one of the most photographed spots in Indonesia, and for good reason. The view is absolutely stunning.

You will also visit Pink Beach, one of only seven pink beaches in the world. The pink color comes from red coral mixed with white sand. The water is crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling. You can swim, sunbathe, or just relax on the soft pink sand.

One of the highlights of the journey is Manta Point. This is where you can swim with giant manta rays. They are gentle and graceful, and seeing them up close is a magical experience. Even if you are not a strong swimmer, you can still enjoy watching them from the boat.

After exploring Komodo, your journey continues overland through Flores. You will visit Waerebo Village, a traditional village located in the mountains. The trek to the village takes about three hours, but the views are worth it. You will see cone-shaped houses, meet friendly locals, and experience a way of life that has not changed for centuries.

The journey also takes you through Bajawa, where you can see more traditional villages and enjoy the cool mountain air. You will visit Bena Village, known for its stone altars and ancient traditions. It is a place where culture and nature come together.

Finally, you arrive at Kelimutu. This is the crown jewel of East Flores. The three colored lakes are a natural wonder. Watching the sunrise over these lakes is a moment you will never forget. The colors change depending on the time of day and the weather.

A journey through Flores and Komodo is an experience of a lifetime. It combines adventure, nature, and culture in a way that few places can. Every moment is filled with wonder and discovery.
